A Loving Tribute In Honor of the Memory of Pastor Allan John Silk, US Army, Vietnam Veteran

With heavy hearts, yet in joyful expectation of eternity in heaven, TGM  Warrior Care announces the passing of our friend and colleage, Pastor Allan Silk, who went home to be with the Lord on May 8, 2021. Allan was laid to rest with full military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetary in Denver, Colorado. A highly decorated Native American Vietnam Combat Veteran, Allan earned both the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for heroism and physical injury during combat operations.

Allan lived out his faith and biblical values everyday. He was trusted and respected within the Christian, veteran, and civilian communities, and a go-to leader when you needed someone to talk to. An hour or so with Allan left you recharged with fresh confidence, courage and direction for whatever issue you were facing. He was consistenly ready in season and out, and freely and generously shared of his wisdom and life experiences. Allan made everyone feel welcome and wanted. He would nod in pleasure if you were right, and dig in and ask questions when you were off track. He was a natural mentor and teacher.

Allan, along with his wife, Pastor Gerri worked tirelessly and became seasoned ministry leaders in the field of marriage care, with decades of experience. Certified with the National Association for Marriage Enhancement (NAME), Allan and Gerri founded Open Doors Marriage Ministry in Thornton, Colorado. Together, Allan and Gerri have trained many other marriage teams, and they have personally counselled and taught hundreds of couples, saving countless marriages and protecting family legacies for generations to come. They also ministered to marriages internationally in Pakistan via Skype, positively impacting and affecting marriages in a foreign culture.

Allan is best remembered as a family man, a calm, friendly, happy, patient person. He was a good, upright and Godly man, a provider, protector and defender who consistently led his beloved bride Gerri, his sons and daughters and his many grandchildren, his home, his financies, and his ministry in the fear of the Lord with integrity, character, and excellence.

Pastor Allan's support and contributions to TGM Warrior Care was in the role of Senior Ministry Advisor for veteran issues. In this role, he provided advice, insight, clarity and understanding whenever called upon. Immediately prior to that role, Allan served as a founding member of TGM Warrior Care serving as an Accountability Board member.

We are forever grateful to have known and worked with Allan. We know that he would want us to continue our mission, and continue it to the utmost, for this ministry to grow, increase and prosper, and to continue caring for hurting veterans and their spouses.

On behalf of TGM Warrior Care, we honor Allan, we respect him deeply, we treasure the conversations, we miss him sorely, and we will remember him always. Allan was a precious gift from God to TGM Warrior Care.  We will see you again!
